(Gunner): "Ok guns back up and running you can proceed"
(Captain): "That will not be necessary, apparently our ground forces has reported mass amounts of civilians near the entrance to the port, radioman send a message to all ships cancel the naval bombardment its too risky with all those people around."
(radioman) "Aye sir"
Naval Bombardment has been canceled for now at least until the city's population is evacuated. |

Mauritania
Heading east on Hwy 14, we expected good time and speed, the traffic was heavy heading to the east. A four lanes on the highway were heading east in the divided highway. In some cases broken-down cars were in the emergency lane as was traffic utilizing the emergency lane. The MP, we up front with lights on, which barely made any difference.
Drone overhead showed video footage of a mass exodus heading east from west mauritania. Cars, trucks, buses, some pulling trailers with belongings/furniture. Over the last week, major break-down in society functions and behavior has been observed. Most people it seems just want to get away from the armed bandits, some do have an affiliation with one of the groups. Many of the politicians have fled the area or are doing so. Some have remained and joined a band of bandits. A couple are trying to help people, trying to run the local
. It has been reported that a Ratel 20 opened fire on a truck that did not yield, firing 4 rounds into the engine block. Two passengers died. After stopping, the convoy headed out to the service road of the oil pipeline to head to the west. The oil has been turned off since the areas of west Mauritania are not secure with the competing groups of armed bandits.
. TF Mary headed down the service road adjacent to the buried pipeline. The oil flow has been turned off, being sent elsewhere.
. In the Atlantic, several patrol boats, corvettes, frigates and helicopters are patrolling and protecting the oil wells offshore. Some of the derelicts have had guns installed and anti-air teams The oil is being pumped into tankers as it has been 'drilled' or held in a derelict tank until a ship comes along side. .
. Heading up the service road just a few miles from Nouakchott there is a small pipeline service area with a few building. Hiding are a few trucks. detected by an unarmed drone. As the vanguard of the TF pulled up, a truck with twin HMG pulled out from behind a building, but staying behind a wall of rocks and mortar. It fired upon the lead MP Land Rover with blue lights flashing, killing all three MPs inside. The Land Rover eased to the right into a ditch and then up hitting a group of unused pipes, rolling on its side.
. The Rooikat 35 (twin 35) opened up missing initially as it tried to respond very quickly, then shooting through the wooden building, which has two 35mm rounds enter the driver left should and jaw sending bone chips into his brain. The loader took one in the right leg, 3 in the stomach & groin region, one in the left arm, he died a few moments later from the shock and massive blood loss. The gunner died taking a a round in the stomach and a bunch of splinters from the wooden building and metal from the ammo box on the HMG. The roof collapsed on the left side as some of the wood and walls disappeared.
. The following 4 Ratel 20s stopped, de-busing the infantry which advanced in dashed with cover. The Ratels followed along on the right while the infantry followed on the left as there was not any cover near the service road. As group of 5 men advanced on a dash the HMG of the other pick-up opened fire hitting 3. The gunner of the pick-up received some 20mm rounds and he crumpled out the back to the ground. A moment later he was laying dead in a puddle of blood. A few men behind the wall fired at the advancing infantry with AK-47s wounding two. One was hit in the head from the return fire by a .223 round of a Sig auto-rifle. 5 other men ran away across the field to a ditch, 3 were gunned down by 20mm rounds from a Ratel 20 which had advance near the wall to the left of the buildings. the other two raised a T-shirt to surrender. Ordered out of the ditch one was shirtless since he used the undershirt as the flag of surrender. This platoon of infantry search the area for any other intel, weapons and men hiding. _________________ Chris |

The Canadian army forces at Maple leaf landing has launched several tear gas canisters to disperse the crowd that had gathered up near the entrance in order to send a armored Column into the city before closing the gates to keep these civilians out, and the base secured, though without the initial Bombardment to cover them that armored column is not sure what to expect when they reach the other areas of the city controlled by the other factions. |

For most of the city it all depends on what you are handing out
For area 1, Rebels and area 2, Al-Kabab. you are considered a target of opportunity. _________________ Send three and fourpence, we're going to a dance! |

All Factions are Nationals of the Country.
Most in the T.zeina area are supportive of YB
Chris should pick CofC area.
The airport at Ksar is out of action with heavy fire fights ongoing (most groups can fire on it).
The little ship marks the port (Canadian foothold).
Note, innocent people live in all areas!
People are trying to move to their allied neighborhoods but this will take a week at least.
At the moment all factions are trying to consolidate control of their areas but it is not 100%, it is a patchwork. _________________ Send three and fourpence, we're going to a dance!

Mauritania
TF Mary moving forward. Effort to move small relief effort Arafat and Riach areas. Tend to be more loyal to CoC, thus wanting to have Mouritania remain in the Commonwealth. Highway 14 comes. Between the areas of Toujounin and Arafat, thus a little south of the air port. _________________ Chris |

When the Canadian Armored unit entered into the Sebkha and Elmina Areas, we where meet by the 6th and last faction calling themselves the Mauritanian Liberation Front this group having feed up with the CofC's unreasonable taxes and the lies they where forced to accept for a long time now, wanted Mauritania to live as a free and independent nation but not under Fatsua's leadership but under there own, the group consists of mostly Ex Mauritanian Military personal along with what equipment they could take including aircraft to which the MLF operate out of a makeshift runway just outside the Sebkha area, this group will support Canada in there endeavors.

The city.
A YB news team from Al Yer Zebra has managed to get into the troubled city.
From the T. zeina area in the North they can clearly see a major fight is underway in Ksar.
We are told that the Martyrs of the brown corduroy trousers hold about 40% of that area but many groups are still there including Al-Kabab and the Spindizzys.
On our way into the city we came across groups of the Brown trousers with newly liberated weapons from an arms depot.
Handfuls of T-54/55, Panhard AML, Saladin/saracen, SA-9 Gaskin, artillery and BRDM's have been driven or towed off.
The UIN in the city is trying to move all staff and assets to the port. All programs have been suspended. _________________ Send three and fourpence, we're going to a dance!

Im sorry but the port is closed to all civilian traffic, only Royal Canadian Navys ships are allowed in and out of the port to ensure that we can get our supply's in from home easily.
Meanwhile in Arafat, the Canadian Armored column and MLF forces came under fire from Al-Kabab forces who are controlling the north parts of the city near Elmina, one Leopard 2 tank had its tracks blown off from a roadside IED, while the Canadian infantry behind it dived to cover as they where getting mowed down by HMG emplacements, while the LAVs began covering fire with its main gun showering the militant emplacements with 30mm cannon fire, the firefight lasted for about 2 hours before the Canadians and MLF forces retreated back to Elmina as they where taking heavy casualties by AL-Kabab reinforcements and the unexpected appearance of Fatsuas Rebels that caused a three way firefight. Hopefully once the Super Carrier arrives it can level the playing field. |

"Im sorry but the port is closed to all civilian traffic, only Royal Canadian Navys ships are allowed in and out of the port to ensure that we can get our supply's in from home easily".
This was the official response given to the senior member of the UIN convoy by the top Canadian Army officer in the city today.
The UIN convoy had made their way to the port seeking safety after coming under fire from different groups across the city.
While the officers talked at the gates of the port the convoy came under repeated tear gas fire and the order was given to retreat back in to the hostile city.
The UIN convoy with all the UIN staff slowly made their way back to the hospital in the West of the city just North of Elmina
Al-Kabab and other rebel groups are quickly spreading the word around the city that Canada is blockading all food in to the city,
As darkness falls the port area comes under poorly aimed artillery and rocket fire from the city center. _________________ Send three and fourpence, we're going to a dance!

The City.
The Yer Bouti Government is asking all YB Nationals to shelter in place.
Operations are underway. Information to help all YB Nationals leave the city will be issued soon. _________________ Send three and fourpence, we're going to a dance! |

(Canadian Commander): "oh crap, get that Damned port open let the UIN staff out get them out, GET THEM OUT NOW!!!!
The Canadians quickly open the port to get the UIN staff out of the city the forces there will keep AL-Kabab at bay until the UIN is out of the city.
the Commander quickly apologized, saying that his original orders was to hold the port to prevent AL-Kabab from escaping, we where not aware that the UIN has a huge presence in the city. |

Nouakchott, Mauritania
Radio communication over secure channel to joint military group...."To Canadian force, is the port that you are wanting secure in St Louis on the southern border of Mauritania or the port at Nouakchott. You are welcome to control the harbor at Nouakchott. I have a feeling that some of the various groups might have a say or a joint say in your quest. If the harbor in St. Louis, well... the Harbor Capt will have a say in that. If he has a say in that and not followed then the coast guard and police might have a say. If there is still a problem, then the Military active duty, then Reserves and Guard units might have a say. If there is still a problem, then the military forces of the Commonwealth may have a say. .
. If Canadian forces are want to continue using the port at St Louis, they are welcome to do so. The coast guard and Harbor operations know to give you priority dock-age, ingress & egress. Hopefully, your representative just got mixed up on the ports, he might be in Ottawa making comments without regard and knowledge of the events in Mauritania.
.
Task Force Mary, under Operation Flex, is moving forward on the service road adjacent to Hwy 14. Trucks have brought up supplies to feed and care fore the refugees from Mauritania. Inspections are taking place to confiscate weapons and question the occupants of the automobiles and those walking.
. Another engagement with some of the forces, an OH-6 approached from the west. It did not have the daily IFF code. After calling out to the daily channel and the general radio channel an Avenger fired a SAM - Stinger at the OH-6 as it was approaching. The missile hit about 1.5 miles away, it crashed in field used for farming. As it landed, a group of 2 Ratel 2-35s moved forward along with 3 AML-90 and 4 Ratel 20 with infantry. To rescue the crew and/or recover the crew along with gathering information.
. It was determined that the OH-6 had a .50 cal on the side, their intent was to harm us and the crew was calling in report. 12 minutes later, some mortar rounds fell about 400 meters from where a few of our vehicles had been located earlier. _________________ Chris |

The useage of the port of St Louis in Senegal was only temporary to deploy our initial ground forces into Mauritania to which we thank the people there for there help, one in the country we move into Nouakchott's port(to which we call it Maple leaf Landing) to deny Al-Kabab or Fatsua's Rebels the chance of using that port to launch attacks on shipping, and since its closer to the combat area we used it as a beachhead to bring in reinforcements in a effective manner. Sorry if we caused some confusion but that was the plan.
If you want us to leave our foothold, we will do that. |
