|
|
Hi Guys,
This is my first post here, although I've lurked for a while.
I recently bought the Modern Microarmor The Game rules to try them out (which I hope to do very soon). Firstly though I've been reading through them to try and familiarise myself and get everything sorted out in my head before I inflict any confusion on an opponent.
It all seems relatively clear, although I have one query on movement:
The rules refer in several places to each turn having "two movement phases". But I can't seem to reconcile this with the turn sequence or the rules section on the mechanics of movement? There only seems to be one movement phase in the sequence, although both players move alternately within this phase, according to their initiative. Is this movement of both players what is considered to be the two movement phases, or have I missed something else?
Any assistance in clearing this up would be appreciated.
regards,

Hoping to try the rules this weekend, so a clarification would be good.

I just logged on, so I guess I'm 67!
Just one movement phase - the movement rates in the data tables are correct for 1 movement phase.
I asked this question long ago - got told that the playtest version had TWO different movement phases in one turn, and the movement rates were halved in each one. It turned out to be un-needed and slowed play, do it was removed. Apparently they didn't catch every references to it...
Follow the sequensce of play and the CTC in the game - there is only one movement phase. |

Here is another tip for movement and firing.
The turn sequence check list on page 140, make copies for both players and literally use a ruler or marker that you slide down the chart to show what phase you are in. It can get confusing until both players are very familiar with the rules especially if you are using forces with different tech levels.
On that same subject, if you want a really interesting game, try a game with different tech levels. It can be a very interesting challenge for both sides.
