There is some desert warfare training going in this week in the ROD. The south-eastern desert is a very dangerous pace, full of hostile animals! Here are some pics of C Company, 7th Infantry Battalion going through platoon lanes.

What you really need to do is put a Star Wars Stormtrooper on the back of that thing.

The Navy of the Republic of Dalmatia is very excited to receive 5 new ships from the local shipyards today. The battleships Fenris and Cerberus (pictured here in port) are joining the fleet, as are the fast combat support ships Bison, Bobcat, and Lynx. As is Dalmatian custom, once a new ship has successfully completed sea trials there is an official “Welcome to the Fleet” ceremony which includes a barbecue and the presentation of a dog to the ship’s first captain. The dog will bear the name of the ship, and while the captain may go down with his ship, the dog is expected to be protected at all costs. During today’s ceremonies, the Fenris, Bobcat, and Lynx received Dalmatian puppies, the Cerberus received a Boxer, and the Bison received a Rottweiler.

With these new ships joining the fleet, the Chief of Naval Operations has directed his staff to begin planning the Great Spotted Fleet…an idea he admittedly stole from US Navy history. The ROD fleet will circumnavigate the globe to demonstrate our naval prowess, blow up some pirates, play rugby and barbecue with allies, and maybe launch an airstrike or two if the opportunity presents itself. The captains of all ships will be reporting to naval HQ next week for a poker game to decide which ships get to participate in the mission.

The Republic of Dalmatia has been quiet on here lately, but we are still very active. We currently have 3 naval battle groups at sea (plus an undisclosed number of submarines). We also have an infantry battalion and a fighter squadron conducting operations in the middle east. Please note that the units listed have necessary support units attached for their deployments.

I'm glad you clarified about the dog. At first, it appeared that you might barbecue the dog. Now THAT would take A LOT OF SAUCE!

In light of the US Navy Pacific Command addressing operational readiness, training and personal the Commonwealth of Chrisdom is planning to reduce the ships deployed over the several weeks, perhaps 2 months for the surface fleet. All plane over 20 years old that the most full rebuild and overhaul is longer than 6 years ago is to go through a complete evaluation, including structural integrity, communications, safety and emergency procedures and training, maintenance, operational readiness and deployment.

The ROD Minister of Defense recently took a Six Sigma class and is in the process of streamlining many of our defense related processes. His first project was to eliminate the operational updates on this forum by creating an ROD site with routine updates. We have not started blogging yet, but the operations map is updated with current ROD deployments.

The ROD Navy is pleased to announce that its newest aircraft carrier has officially joined the fleet. CV-7, RODS Fury, is seen here in port alongside the carrier Vengeance (CV-5) earlier this week.

Over the past months, we have working hard to increase the size and capability of the Dalmatian Navy, and we are finally seeing the results of that effort. The Fury is the third aircraft carrier in the fleet, but there are three additional carriers currently under construction. Along with the new carriers, the Navy is building or purchasing additional destroyers and support vessels for the battle groups, as well as additional aircraft to form the carrier air wings.

The Navy’s goal is to have all six carrier battle groups ready by the end of the year – a very ambitious goal indeed. This accelerated timeline is due to the sailing of the Great Spotted Fleet in 2018 – a tour around the globe of the Dalmatian Fleet.

The ROD is also seeking an overseas base for naval and land forces, and at least one carrier is expected to be forward deployed to this potential naval base.

Naval expansion, we only have 3 Invincible/Ark Royal class carriers, and Canberra Class.
.
.....wonder if Balzac and ROD are planning to work together? if Balzac would permit ROD to forward deploy a carrier? Should we offer an base on one of the Islands in the Med, the Brits, French, and Americans each have a base on a respective Island?
