LOL Mick!

I'm still working on the rules because I can't find a set that is exactly what I want. originally I was going to do it as a solo wargame, so including other players will require a mechanism for playing by e-mail. There are several games that I intend to steal bits and pieces from like NATO Division Commander, FFT, OPCOM, even Battletech Battleforce 2.

My goal is to have a game at the operational level with multiple divisions on each side. The units to move on the board will be mostly battalions, but I also want to incorporate air and naval and logistics. but I don't want it to be overwhelmingly tedious. Not sure it's possible, but I'm trying.

Oh, and I also want it to play in 24 hour cycles - issue orders each day and have the game turn represent 24 hours of game time. That part might be a stretch, but this might go on for some time and I still have a job and family so it can't take up too much time.

Anagoladom, Mauritaniadom, Malidom, are transferring by rail 40,000 soldiers and supplies to Moroccodom. Asked for access from Algeria, they declined despite helping them with their natural resources in the south. Transports have been moving the early arrivals and Commonwealth soldiers to Tunisadom for defense from the Evil Empire in Libya.

Not sure how many people, if any, will want to participate in the upcoming war, but just in case, here is my idea so far for the game. Tell me what you think:

Overview
The war will be fought in 24-hour turns, each turn representing 12 hours of game time. That way players can tend to real life stuff like jobs and family and just submit orders once per day. Those orders will cover 12 hours of game time (either midnight to noon or noon to midnight). 12 hours is still a long time and in real life commanders would be issuing orders more often than that, but it seems like a good compromise.

Players will need to issue orders and each unit’s combat card draw (I’ll explain that later) for all of their units. That can be naval, air, and ground. They will also need to submit orders for strategic and operational logistics.

As referee, I will take the player orders and update the Master Sit Map which has every unit on it. When units come into contact or orders call for an attack, I will draw a combat control card and play it against the players combat card to resolve. All player units need to be known to the referee so that I can adjudicate things like surprise submarine attacks or airborne drops.

After all moves and combats for the turn are complete, the referee will send a SITREP to each player with combat results and new intel.

Here is the order that I will resolve movement and combat:

A. Strategic Logistics
B. Naval
C. Air
D. Ground
E. Operational Logistics

More to follow…

I will participate in this for New Canada.

What is the total size of the Eurasian Empire/PAC forces are there in Libya? That way I know what size of forces I have to bring.

A powerful ROD amphibious force is entering the Red Sea, steaming north toward the Suez. It consists of four Wasp class LHDs (Ares, Perseus, Theseus, and Diomedes), three Whidbey Island class LSDs (Agamemnon, Menelaus, and Aeneas), an Anchorage class LSD (Ajax), an Austin class LPD (Protesilaus), and a Newport class LST (Patroclus).

The ships are escorted by three battleships, two destroyers, and two frigates. They are carrying 2nd and 3rd Regimental Combat Teams of the ROD Marine Corps and the Marine Air Wing. As always, this task force may or may not include submarines.

This morning, shortly before sunrise, the Eurasian Empire launched a massive attack on the Egyptian armed forces, the Suez ** CENSORED **, and the Sinai Peninsula. The Imperial 1st Combined Arms Army, consisting of two motor rifle divisions and two tank divisions, roared across the border from Libya, smashing into Egyptian Army units that were defending the border. Imperial air power also hit the Egyptian military, attacking airfields to cripple the Egyptian Air Force while it was still on the ground and then turning their attention to Egyptian Army units.

To the east, Imperial Marines conducted amphibious landings and heliborne insertions in and around the Suez ** CENSORED **, seizing the three major bridges across the waterway and sealing the ** CENSORED ** off at both ends. Civilian shipping inside the ** CENSORED ** was brought to a standstill as the attack developed. Many ships have been avoiding the ** CENSORED ** due to the recent tension, but some are inside the ** CENSORED ** at anchor, waiting for a way to exit.

Even further to the east, Imperial paratroopers dropped into the Sinai, with unknown objectives. The attack included a robust cyber and electronic operation which has crippled social media, television, and radio in the region. Reports are sketchy, but the Egyptian government has released a statement, passed through the US Embassy in Cairo to news outlets in Turkey, that Egyptian military forces are battling the invader and that they are assured of victory. Egypt has not requested military assistance.

At the same time that this invasion was unfolding, the Imperial 69th Motor Rifle Division launched an invasion of Mahishmati. The attack is slow and deliberate, and the Mahishmati military, along with the ROD 2nd Armored Brigade and 5th Fighter Wing, are battling the invaders.

Rockets also rained down on Jerusalem this morning, with greater accuracy and concentration than is usually seen coming from the occupied territories. Israeli officials blame the attack on PAC units that were known to have infiltrated the West Bank and Gaza strip in recent months.

This conflict has already been dubbed The Suez War.

The war is being fought primarily on the microbattles.webstarts.com website.

A NCAF Brigade is following the ROD Corps to Jordan, the other NCAF ground forces will remain to try to liberate the Can-al from the Imperial Marines.

Jordan SFs deploy all around the invaders. 21 fuel trucks blow up, only 8 survivors are able to walk home. 12 miles to the east on a smaller highway, Cobra attack helicopters attack a convoy of 33 trucks and 8 armored cars on escort. 16 are smoking, while the others returned to the south.

The ROD has asked Jordan permission to allow us to enter into their country in order to get access to the peninsula and thus the Can-al, that was what the ROD intel wanted us to do.

Now thanks to your "defense" CofC we have to pull back out of Jordan, thus ruining part of the RODs plan to retake the Can-al.

The ROD and NCAF forces are in tactical assembly areas just south of the Jordanian border. Jordan has indeed granted us permission to pass through the southern tip of the country and the southern tip of Israel so that we can reach the Sinai. We haven't crossed the border into Jordan yet though.

The Sinai is how we're going to reach the Suez Can-al, Mech. You can sail right up into the Suez, but if you get past the Imperial Navy in the area you'll be between two enemy forces.

Unfortunately the NCAF Brigade we sent to travel near the border with Jordan with the ROD got shot up pretty good as a result of this misunderstanding by the Jordanian army, so this plan to reach the Sinai was seriously fubred.

We need to find another way.

No one got shot up. I AM THE REFEREE! There is no creative writing in this wargame. I'm rolling dice on my end and posting all combat results to the micro battles website. You get an Intel report from me and you send me your orders. I move stuff on the control map, roll dice, consult charts, and then I tell you what happened.
