You find only the hole left by the Spindizzy that lifted the entire establishment into space. We are GONE!

In case you are not familiar with a Spindizzy, it is an old (now) sci-fi device. Read Cities in Flight, by James Blish.

I never read the book, but the big question is how to get you down from space?

Regimental HHT is finally complete. Actually, the word complete may be a bit premature - I still need to add an A-frame to the M88 and I need a few more HMMWVs, but it's close enough for me to declare combat ready.

HHT's callsign is Wrangler. Still working on O troop (OH-58D) and then perhaps back to 3rd Squadron for some more ground troops.

It has taken me way too long to finish O Troop, and it didn’t turn out quite as I had envisioned. I imagined a little snip here, some filing over there…attach a piece of round plastic dowel for a rocket pod…glue on a piece of wire for the .50 cal barrel. Easy project right?

WRONG!!!!

The pewter thwarted my every move. I cursed a lot more than usual and both my alcohol intake and my blood pressure increased. There was great wailing and gnashing of teeth. After about a month on this troop I decided to change the unit status from “Work In Progress” to “Close Enough”. I am declaring Ocelot Troop ready for action and they are heading to Germany to joint the rest of the Regiment.

"Perfect" is the enemy of "Good enough!"

They look fine.

I know that it's not a cavalry thing, but as I'm getting settled in the new house I'm going through some old footlockers and I found these 2 stadtplan. I'm thinking that the 9th ACR is going to have to liberate Wuerzburg at some point!

Wife was stationed in Augsburg at hospital. Nice place. Good gasthausen. St.Julian is its patron saint. Leighton Barracks is now part of University of Wurzburg. The quarters now house students and faculty. Interesting to see the transformation.

I know where it is... some of our guys flew in there blindfolded, GPS trackers all confiscated, turned off and left at the departing airport.
It’s in Jim’s brain.. haha, lol.

It would certainly be interesting to know just where you landed in Wurzburg.
