This is the start of the resurrecting of old posts, in this case the Graf Spee and the Yamato. Posted to the 'Micronaut Only Thread' they are now hidden behind the Photobucket fog.

Here is the Graf Spee, posted on 26 October 2015. She is depicted in the final scheme she wore at the end of her career as shown in Asmussen & Leon's "German Naval Camouflage, Volume 1".

Now the Yamato. This is the early war model of the class, model #IJN15. These images were posted on 7 May 2016.

One of the few buildings I've painted is GHQ's Russian church. A nice model, but not what you would find in a typical Russian village.

The model was given to my wife as a gift by Pete Skaar, a member of this board, as a memento of her homeland. She asked me to paint it. Looking at photos I found one of a church in Sergiev Posad which matched the basic design of GHQ's church. This church also had frescoes which I was requested to add to the GHQ model.

The results (originally posted 31 December 2011):

The inspiration, Assumption Cathedral, Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius, Sergiev Posad, Russia:

I didn't do the cupola stars. Wasn't up to that challenge.

YOU PAINTED THE FRESCOS ON THE CHURCH??????

That's part inspiring, part frightening, and all awesome!

I have seen the church in person and can attest to the excellent detail that Begemot has put into it. It really is a work of art quite literally.

Thank you all for your generous comments.

I'm glad GHQ hasn't made a model of the Sistine Chapel.

Well, if the model included the ceiling...
You know the story of the ceiling?
Michelangelo spent four years painting the interior of the chapel.
At last it was time to unveil his masterpiece.
The pope was invited in to see it.
The pope walked in, and looked up, and said...
"Michelangelo! I told you... BLUE!"
