The BTR-4 entered service with Ukrainian armed forces in 2014 after a lengthy teething process. Armament consists of a 30mm auto-cannon, coaxial 7.62mm MG and 30mm grenade launcher, and a pair of anti-tank missiles. Operated by a crew of three, it can (in theory) carry eight passengers. Exported to Iraq and Nigeria. Approximately 200 vehicles were in service with Ukraine before the beginning of hostilities with Russia in 2022.
