HMAS Hobart, lead ship of a three-ship guided missile destroyer class, was commissioned in 2017; sister ships Brisbane in 2018, and Sydney in 2020. The design is based on the USN Arleigh Burke and Spanish Alvaro de Bazan. Primary armament consists of a 41-cell VLS, Harpoon launchers, 5-inch deck gun, and ASW torpedo tubes. This is complemented by an extensive radar and countermeasures suite, including the Australian-designed Nulka decoy system.
