Armament consists of four 21-in. torpedo tubes and 24 vertical launch tubes. 14 of the class are designated SSBN with Trident C4 missiles—each capable of carrying up to eight nuclear warheads. The remaining four subs are designated SSGN, armed with pods carrying seven Tomahawk cruise missiles.
