Improved fire support vehicle based on the LVT-2. Replacing the earlier LVT(A)1, the vehicle mounted a 75mm howitzer in an open-topped turret. Beginning production in 1944, a total of 1,890 vehicles were produced, serving with the USMC, US Army, and 50 being supplied to the British armed forces.
